DYEING BLUE - Dyeing a beanie
A beanie (100% virgin wool), hand-dyed in indigo, with a hangtag that turns into a bookmark. Ready to be gifted.
Solid color or patterned binding, and you choose the color intensity
Chunky knit made of 100% virgin wool, Made in Germany
Includes: Indigo-dip hangtag, which lives on as a bookmark
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS
- First, dye your hangtag in the indigo dip so it has time to dry completely.
- You decide whether your beanie will be solid-colored, tie-dyed, or dip-dyed.
- Your beanie goes into the vat. When you take it out, it will be greenish and turn blue as it is exposed to the air.
- Write your greeting on the back of the hangtag.
- Rinse and take your hangtag with you. The beanie will still be damp, and the hangtag can be used as a bookmark later.
Note for at home: You will need to handle the rinsing and neutralizing yourself; you can find all the steps for this on our care instructions page.
An indigo beanie, to give as a gift or for your own winter.
You can dye it a solid color or tie it off beforehand to create a pattern. Or you can use the dip-dye method: only part of it goes into the indigo bath, leaving the rest light. When you take the beanie out, it will be greenish and turn blue when exposed to air.
Finally, you’ll design your own hangtag to make your beanie ready for gifting.
The beanie is made of chunky-knit virgin wool and is produced by our partner Leuchtfeuer Strickwaren in Germany.
You will also dye a hangtag made of watercolor paper in the same indigo. The paper is made of cotton and absorbs the dye just like fabric. Write your message on the back. Once unpacked, the hangtag doubles as a bookmark, with the cord hanging out of the top of the book.
